UNION PASSENGER TERMINAL TO CANAL STREET STREETCAR
Project type
Transportation/Government
Location
New Orleans, Louisiana
Date
January 2011 - April 2011
Client
New Orleans Regional Transit Authority
(Federally funded project)
Task Manager for Architectural Task.
Provided final design and construction documents for streetcar shelters, articulated bus shelters and bus canopy for five bus bays.
Coordinated with all engineering design of a complete rail system for the first federally funded project in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.
Client had a very stressed deadline in order to have construction documents completed in three months for a complete streetcar rail system connecting from Union Passenger Terminal to Canal Street to receive funding from the Federal government.
The new stations were to reflect a contempory aesthetic that embraces a revitalized city. Most of the work involved coordination with engineering- traffic, rail, electrical, and operations. Schedule was meant mainly due to over-the-shoulder reviews and coordination. Another project was spun due to the success that continued the streetcar in the historic district which client requested more traditional shelters.
