Control Room retrofit. Provided 90% construction documents, construction administration and inspections for control room alterations. Project included new layout of furnishings, materials and video wall.
Florida Department of Transportation reached the end of year life for the consoles and needed a new arrangement for better communication between operators. Technology had advanced greatly to replace the video wall.
The arrangement from horizontal rows of consoles, the design incorporated pod type of configuration that allows groups to be in proximity of each other and allowed easier communication, especially during an emergency event. Due to a pre-designed space, the video wall was recessed in the allowable space to accommodate the new layout. A new video wall was implemented. The new consoles allow for stacking of monitors for operators.
The retrofit project won an award for outstanding achievements by Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida.
